Analysis of the Basic Process for Tungsten Carbide Spraying

Keywords: Tungsten Carbide Coating
Guangzhou Sanxin Metal Technology Co., Ltd. is a company primarily engaged in the research and application of tungsten carbide thermal spray surface treatment technology. All our products are manufactured strictly in accordance with ISO standards. Today, we’d like to share with you the basic process of tungsten carbide thermal spraying.

The basic process of tungsten carbide spraying includes substrate surface pretreatment, spraying, surface heat treatment, coating sealing treatment, and coating surface finishing.
  (1) Substrate surface pretreatment: After selecting the spraying method, choose a pretreatment process that includes degreasing, rust removal, and surface roughness adjustment.
  (2) Spraying: When spraying tungsten carbide, it is essential to determine appropriate process parameters to ensure control over the spraying quality.
  These include:
  Injection of the heat source condition, i.e., the mixing ratio of fuel and oxygen;
  (3) Material conveyance, i.e., the type, velocity, flow rate, conveying location, and angle of the gas being conveyed;
  (4) Tungsten carbide spraying materials, including material composition, physical properties, powder morphology, particle size, and wire or rod diameter.
  The four basic components: base temperature, performance, and surface treatment method;
  Five spray application parameters, including the distance between the spray gun and the machine, the speed of the spray gun or machine components, the angle between the spray gun and the machine components, and the spraying of the gas medium.
  Post-coating treatment: Immediately after coating, sealing or heat treatment should be performed.
  Surface Treatment: After tungsten carbide spraying, the tungsten carbide coating should be polished to ensure dimensional accuracy. In addition, safety precautions must be taken during the spraying process.
  High-speed and high-temperature spray protection for workers and tungsten carbide spraying equipment, including ventilation to control dust and spray particulates, as well as safety protection against spray noise and arc radiation.
