The main principle of the SX-5000 supersonic flame spraying equipment is as follows: A mixed gas of fuel gas and oxygen is delivered under high pressure to an ignition zone located at the nozzle outlet, where it is ignited. The annular flow of hot gas is compressed by an external stream of pressurized air, causing it to accelerate and form a supersonic flame. Powder particles, carried by a carrier gas, are conveyed to the nozzle outlet and then introduced into the combustion flame, where they deposit to form a coating.
