Wear and corrosion-resistant thermal spray coating repair for components in the iron and steel industry, including submerged rolls, guide rolls, furnace bottom rolls, and conveyor rolls.

In the iron and steel industry, numerous equipment components operate continuously at full load under harsh conditions characterized by high temperatures, oxidation, high-temperature corrosion, mechanical wear, and corrosion by molten metals. As a result, these components are highly susceptible to damage—for example, the high-temperature corrosion of converter shrouds and flues; thermal and mechanical fatigue of support rollers, guide rollers, and pinch rollers in continuous casting production lines; mechanical wear of mold plates, conveying rollers, and various process rollers in slab continuous casting lines; fatigue and wear of tension rollers and straightening rollers in cold-rolling mill production lines; high-temperature corrosion and scaling on bottom rollers in continuous annealing furnaces; and erosion and wear caused by molten metal on immersion rollers, tension rollers, and guide rollers in continuous hot-dip galvanizing lines. All these failure issues can be effectively addressed by using thermal spraying techniques to apply high-strength, high-performance materials.

Automotive mold repair, HVOF-sprayed tungsten carbide coating, wear-resistant spray coating

Molds—especially hot-work molds—not only operate in high-temperature environments but also endure wear, compression, impact, and thermal-mechanical fatigue. Consequently, their surface properties typically face stringent requirements. If the surface lacks sufficient hardness, red hardness, oxidation resistance, or corrosion resistance, it will easily degrade during use, shortening the mold’s service life. Therefore, mold surfaces generally undergo surface strengthening treatments.

Supersonic Spraying of WC Tungsten Carbide on Ball Valve Disc

Our company employs an advanced supersonic flame spraying process to apply ultra-wear-resistant tungsten carbide coatings onto various components. The wear resistance of these coatings is 2 to 4 times higher than that achieved by other surface treatment processes and tens of times greater than that of ordinary stainless steel. The superiority of the supersonic process stems from its exceptionally high jet velocity and relatively low temperature at the workpiece surface—typically ranging from 120 to 200 degrees Celsius—which results in an extremely dense coating microstructure with excellent bonding strength. Moreover, the process causes minimal carbon loss and phase transformation in the substrate material. When comparing processes using the same materials, the hardness of supersonic coatings is significantly higher than that of other thermal spray coatings, reaching a hardness of HV1300. As a result, these coatings provide outstanding protection for a wide range of highly wear-prone components.
