Corrugating roll Tungsten Carbide (WC-Co) Coating
The corrugating roll is a critical component in the corrugated cardboard production line. Its groove profile, manufacturing precision, wear resistance, service life, and operating speed are the primary technical indicators for assessing its quality and economic viability, directly impacting both product quality and the economic benefits of the enterprise. Corrugating rolls are expensive and prone to wear. To enhance their wear resistance and surface hardness, it is common practice to subject them to medium- and high-frequency quenching followed by surface treatments such as ion nitriding or chrome plating. However, even with these treatments, their wear resistance remains insufficient, and their service life is still inadequate, failing to meet the operational requirements of medium- and high-speed corrugated cardboard production lines. To further improve the wear resistance and surface hardness of corrugating rolls and meet the demands of the corrugated cardboard production line’s shift toward higher speeds, Guangzhou Sanxin Company has successfully developed WC-Co metal-ceramic coated corrugating rolls using advanced thermal spraying technology.
★ A special pretreatment process is employed to enhance the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate, ensuring that the coating remains firmly adhered and does not peel off over the long term.
★ The robot uses a gun to apply the coating, and the coating thickness is uniform and controllable.
★ The tooth surface coating is processed using polishing equipment with independently owned intellectual property rights to meet the corrugated roller’s requirements for surface finish.
★ During the spraying process, the corrugated roller temperature rise is below 80℃ and does not deform.
★ We have independently developed a coating stripping process that makes the coating easy to remove, allowing the roller blanks to be reused.
Features of WC-coated corrugating rolls:
★ High hardness, excellent wear resistance, and not easily worn.
★ It can reduce the amount of core paper and glue used.
★ It can maintain product consistency over the long term and improve the yield of finished products.
★ Its service life is 2 to 4 times longer than that of conventional hard-chrome-plated rollers, reducing spare parts costs.
★ Reduce the number of equipment downtime events for roll changes and improve equipment utilization efficiency.
