The SX-80 plasma spraying equipment has been shipped to Shandong, intended for the production of surface coatings on insulating bearings.

 

Insulated bearing coating refers to the process of applying a layer of aluminum oxide onto the outer surface of the bearing raceway using plasma spraying technology, based on standard bearings, thereby endowing the bearings with insulating properties.
 
 
In electric motors and generators, there are circulating currents and induced currents between the housing, bogie, and wheelset. During bearing rotation, when current flows through the bearing, it can break down the extremely thin oil film in the rolling contact area, generating sparks that cause localized melting and damage to the contact surfaces—resulting in electrical erosion. This leads to poor bearing rotation; in severe cases, it can progress to spalling, ultimately causing bearing failure. Additionally, the hardness of the rolling surfaces decreases, making them more susceptible to wear, which directly affects the performance and service life of both the motor and the entire machine.
 
 
Therefore, it is highly necessary to develop insulated bearings that are compatible with electric motors and generators. Bearings equipped with insulating coatings are unaffected by high temperatures, moisture, and chemicals. Their performance and operational accuracy are identical to those of standard, non-insulated bearings, allowing for high-standard interchangeability. This fundamentally solves the problem of electrical erosion in bearings.
