Principle of Cold Spray Technology

Cold Spray (CS) technology, also known as gas-dynamic spraying, refers to a coating deposition method in which high-speed solid particles with certain plasticity, upon impacting a substrate, undergo intense plastic deformation and thereby deposit to form a coating. Under normal conditions, the conventional understanding is that when solid particles collide with a substrate, they exert an erosive effect on the substrate.

Development Prospects of Plasma Spraying

In recent years, several new plasma spraying technologies have been developed on the basis of conventional plasma spraying. These include: 3. Vacuum Plasma Spraying (also known as Low-Pressure Plasma Spraying). Vacuum plasma spraying is a technique carried out in a sealed chamber with a controllable atmosphere at pressures ranging from 4 to 40 kPa. Since the working gas, after being ionized, expands in volume and is ejected under low-pressure conditions, the jet velocity reaches supersonic levels. This method is particularly well-suited for materials that are highly sensitive to oxidation. 4. Water-Stabilized Plasma Spraying. In the plasma spraying methods mentioned earlier, the working medium is always a gas; however, in this method, the working medium is not gas but water.
